About Elle, MD

 Melissa Chen, MD MPH is an Associate Professor and Director of Complex Family Planning in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis. She completed an MD/MPH program at Northwestern University, residency at Northwestern University, and fellowship in family planning at the University of California, Davis. Her research interests include contraceptive development, postpartum contraception, and abortion care. She has received grant funding through industry partners, foundations, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Chen is also involved in mentoring trainees in research through her roles as residency research co-director and associate program director for the fellowship in complex family planning.
